Minimum Qualifications
If you are interested in the possibility of working as a general practitioner at
Northern Suburbs Medical Service, we would like to help you by giving you
the following information. You will need to meet the following minimum
requirements. Please also note that we are classified as Rural, Remote
and Metropolitan Area (RRMA) Zone 3 - click here for more information
about the RRMA classification system.
- Hold a medical degree that is or can be registered with the Medical Council of Tasmania.
- Have an unrestricted Provider Number issued by the Health Insurance Commission.
- Have Vocational Registration (VR) with the Health Insurance Commission, or
- Are eligible for "FRACGP ad eundum gradum" because of reciprocal rights relating to your particular medical school, click here for more information.
- If you do not have VR status, then your will normally need to be currently enrolled in a registered Australian training program (such as that provided by GPTT) leading to the successful completion of the FRACGP examinations.
