Other things you should know

  • We try to ensure that we never have to 'close our books' to new patients. However, 'keeping our books open' may mean that you might not get an appointment as soon as you could require particularly if you are a new patient.
  • If you are a new patient, and have a medical record with another practice or doctor, please ensure that you sign a Release Form to enable us to obtain a copy of your file for our use. It sometimes help if you contact your former doctor to let them know that you have signed such a Release Form.
  • If you feel that you have an urgent/important problem that requires either immediate attention, attention on the same day, or attention within 48 hours, make sure that you do tell our reception staff so that we can do our best to accommodate you.
  • Please note that appointments are required for Saturday morning surgery times, but currently not for Sunday or Public Holidays
  • It is our policy that you should, if at all possible, see that same doctor each time you visit the practice. However, this may not be always possible, as many doctors work part-time, and there are also annual leave and sick leave considerations. It is always important that you are able to nominate who is your regular doctor here, and we will try to ensure that you see that doctor - if your need is not urgent, delaying a few days for your appointment may help us fit you in to see your nominated doctor.
  • If you are unable to see your nominated doctor, please be reassured that the same file, computerised and written, is used by all of the doctors at all our surgery locations, and this helps ensure proper continuity of your care.
  • We contract with the Launceston After-Hours Medical Service at 50a Frankland Street (opposite the Launceston General Hospital) Ph: 6331 4588 to provide services to our patients when we are not available (mainly after surgery times on weekends and public holidays). The AHMS is an accredited service provider and always forwards a written summary to us of any treatment that they may provide to you after hours. Note that the AHMS does not provide continuing care, you should return to your own doctor for follow-up.
  • Please note that you currently cannot make appointments online, you must telephone (03) 6336 0555 or present in person.
